Who are we and why do we play African music?
Kelly Smisk is an Uppsala Masters student who has been practically obsessed with the music of Africa
for the past 7 years or so, a passion she inherited from her musician Father who had a giant collection of
African music. What does she like best? The music of
Mali never fails to impress and in January 2010 Kelly
and her Dad went to Le Festival au Desert in Timbuktu to shake their asses to lots of amazing bands.
West Africa in general has some of the most impressive music, be it
pop, funk, jazz, afrobeat,
blues, whatever! More countries who's music will blow you away:
Congo, Angola, Ethiopia.
